Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has defended the presence of management Committees for Ghana’s National Football Teams right from the Junior Level to the Senior Level.
He said this when he appeared before a Parliamentary Select Committee for Sports, Culture and Tourism hearing. Top brass of the GFA including Vice President Mark Addo and members of the Executive Council including Dr. Randy Abbey and GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo were present at the hearing and headlined Day Three of the Committee’s hearing.
Former GFA Technical Director Francis Oti Akenteng in his address at the hearing expressed his dissatisfaction about the high remuneration given to each member of the Black Stars Management Committee to the tune $100,000.(Click highlighted text to read full story)
However, on the part of GFA President Kurt Okraku defended the presence of such committees.
“For the World Cup, it takes four years of hard work and management and sleepless nights and travelling in aircrafts to secure qualification; unfortunately it doesn’t take two days. For the other junior national teams, it takes two years to secure qualification. Everyday within a year, work is being done.”
“This has to be made very clear that management committees do not exist on paper. They work and everybody who’s had a chance to or being part of any of our national teams will speak to this.”
