Sudan’s National Men’s Football Team head coach, James Kwasi Appiah, has stated that his team changed its system against Ghana after registering a 2-0 win over the Black Stars.
He said this in a post-game interview after Sudan bagged its second win in four 2025 AFCON qualification games with the win placing Sudan in touching distance of qualifying to the tournament that will be held in Morocco.
Ghana drew goalless with Sudan in the first of two clashes between the countries in Accra and Appiah admitted that his team’s 2-0 win over Sudan was registered on the back of a change in system that had Sudan play more aggressively in attack than they did in Accra.
“Today’s game was really difficult. Playing against Ghana you know, Ghana is one of the best countries in terms of football. We went to Ghana to play a goalless draw but we knew that playing here (in Libya) would be a very difficult game. We did our best, we had to change our system of play and fortunately it did work.”
Playing against Ghana at home was going to be difficult but we did about best to win the game.

Sudan rank second in Group F with seven points and need just a point to officially confirm its qualification to the 2025 AFCON.
In the same group, leaders Angola, confirmed their place in Morocco next year by beating Niger 1-0 to score its fourth win in as many games.
