MTN FA Cup Committee Chairman, Wilson Arthur, has stated that adequate security measures will be put in place for upcoming games this weekend.
The Round of 16 fixtures in the annual competition kicks off on Friday, September 21 at the Tuba Astro Turf where Access Bank Division One League side Attram De Visser take on Ghana Premier League side Bibiani Gold Stars.
Games involving other Ghana League clubs like Accra Hearts of Oak, Medeama, Young Apostles and Bechem United will play out on February 22 and February 23.
The latest round of the FA Cup are to be played out on the backdrop of recent heightened hooliganism that led to the death of Kumasi Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong but Wilson Arthur dissuaded any fears of similar incidents happening in the competition.
“Adequate security measures have been put in place, clubs are on high alert. What I pray will not happen is for us to entertain these fears. There is nothing to be afraid of; the teams have prepared very well, they’ve trained very well” he said on ChannelOne TV’s Football Made In Ghana.

Nsoatreman are defending champions of the competition. However, Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s game against Sekondi XI Wise FC has been postponed as Kotoko have suspended competing in competitive games as investigations on Pooley’s death continue.
