President John Dramani Mahama has acknowledged the current state of Ghanaian sports, describing it as being at a critical juncture while reflecting on the country’s rich sporting history.

His remarks come at a time when concerns have been raised over the declining standards in Ghanaian sports, particularly in football, where the national teams and domestic leagues have struggled to maintain dominance on the international stage.

President Mahama made these statements while delivering the 2025 State of the Nation’s address on the floor of Parliament.

Speaking on the challenges and future of sports development in Ghana, the president highlighted the nation’s past remarkable achievements in disciplines such as boxing, football, and athletics, which have earned Ghana global recognition.
