Ghana, Jamaica, Nigeria, and Trinidad and Tobago will converge in London in May 2025 to compete for the Unity Cup 2025 in an event dubbed “The Best in the West – the Afro Classico Contest.”

The tournament will feature two thrilling semi-finals showcasing intense regional rivalries.

On Tuesday, May 27, the first semi-final will mark the inaugural “TriniJam” clash on UK soil, as Trinidad and Tobago’s Soca Warriors face Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz to determine the top team in the West Indies.

The following day, May 28, Nigeria’s Super Eagles will take on Ghana’s Black Stars in a battle for West African bragging rights.

The four teams will return on Saturday, May 31, for a doubleheader at the same venue, with the third-place playoff followed by the final to crown the Unity Cup 2025 champion.

Nigeria, two-time Unity Cup winners, may enter as favorites, bolstered by their strong FIFA ranking and recent performances.

However, their West African rivals Ghana pose a significant threat, especially in London, where the Black Stars previously secured a 4-1 victory over the Super Eagles. Jamaica, meanwhile, will arrive with a point to prove after a narrow 1-0 loss to Trinidad and Tobago in a previous encounter, eager to settle the score.

Rotimi Pedro of AfroSport, the event’s organizers, expressed his excitement, saying,

“I am proud to announce that the Unity Cup is back. It has been a long road to revive this important community event, and we are thrilled that fans of African and Caribbean football will witness international football of the highest caliber at the Unity Cup 2025.”

Andy Howes, Co-Director of AfroSport, added, “The Unity Cup goes beyond sport, uniting communities through football. With elite stars and the growing commercial importance of African and Caribbean football, this tournament also reflects the rising influence of black football fans within English football.”
