Arsenal FC manager Mikel Arteta has stated that the London club followed the “right processes” regarding its handling of rape allegations against Thomas Partey while the Ghanaian played for Arsenal.
32 year old Partey has been charged on five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women that run through the periods 2021 and 2022.
Free agent Partey was competing for the Gunners during the aforementioned period after sealing a move from Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
He is set to appear before a Westminster magistrate court on August 5 after getting charged by the Metropolitan Police and Arsenal have been slammed by female right groups for allowing Partey to play for the club despite being under investigation.
“A lot of fans have questions over the way in which the matter was handled by the club. Do you feel confident and comfortable that the club followed all the right processes in that?” was asked at the presser and Arteta responded “100%, yes” and added that

“The club was very clear in its statement,” Arteta said. “There are a lot of legal matters that are very complicated so I cannot comment on any of that”.

Partey spent five seasons at Arsenal before becoming a free agent after negotiations with the club over a new deal fell through.
