Burnley Football Club manager Scott Parker has slammed the VAR decision to award Manchester United a late penalty that was converted to condemn Burnley to a second loss in three English Premier League games.
Parker made the comments in a post-game interview with the BBC after Burnley lost 3-2 to Man United at Old Trafford with Bruno Fernandes converting from the penalty spot to give Man United their first win of the season.
Amad Diallo fell in the penalty box after getting his jersey tugged with the referee ignoring the incident originally but got prompted to check the VAR that led to the decision getting overturned to award the Red Devils a penalty and Parker wasn’t happy about the influence of the VAR to determine the game’s winner.
“My thoughts are I’m disappointed, gutted, but immensely proud of the team. The on field decision, the referee didn’t give the foul.”

“Then we have re-reffed it, VAR seeing a clear and obvious error. It’s not the ref, it’s a fella 200-odd miles away in a box. A long time ago when you had the passion and celebration – now you are standing around and waiting” Parker said.

Three games into the 2025-2026 English Premier League season, Burnley have a win and two losses.
