Ghana forward Brandon Solomon Thomas-Asante has indicated that his challenging campaign in his first season at Coventry City was down to dealing with an injury.
Thomas-Asante joined Coventry last season from West Bromwich Albion and ended up scoring six goals and adding three assists in 43 games in all competitions.
However, the Black Stars player had a bright start to the 2025-2026 season as he has two goals and two assists in three EFL Championship games.
Speaking ahead of Coventry’s game against Oxford United on Saturday, August 30 at 14:00 GMT with the chance to move to the top of the table from fourth place, Thomas-Asante believes that being in a compromised physical position affected him last season.
“As a striker, getting in the right positions in important as well and I’m grateful to the staff.”

“Last year, I was sort of trying to play on a bit of injury and I ended up being out for a little while, so to feel good in my body,…I’m grateful that over the offseason, I could rest and get back to a state I’m happy with” Thomas-Asante said to Coventry City media.

Despite his brilliant start to the season, Thomas-Asante wasn’t included in the Black Stars squad for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.
