Kumasi Asante Kotoko assistant head coach Prince Yaw Owusu wanted his team to win big against Karela United to sound an alarm to Accra Hearts of Oak ahead of the big clash between the rivals on Sunday, November 9 at 15:00 GMT.
Kotoko players delivered in prefect fashion by scoring a 4-2 win over Karela United at the Baba Yara Stadium in the team’s first game after a humiliating exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.
Kotoko lost 6-1 on aggregate to Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club to exit the continental championship; the win over Karela also marked the first game Kotoko played without striker Albert Amoah after he was sold to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi immediately after the heavy loss to Wydad. “I wanted to win this game and it would be a very good alarm for Hearts of Oak to think about. It’s not going to be easy, we are just wounded and we want to prove something” Prince Yaw Owusu said after the game.

Kotoko have three wins and two draws in five Ghana Premier League games this season to rank eighth. Hearts of Oak beat Basake Holy Stars 2-1 away from home.
Victory at home.
