Manchester United Co-Owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has apologised for his comments on immigrants after facing heavy backlash including criticism from British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the billionaire stated that the UK had been “colonized” by immigrants and it was costing the state too much money.
The backlash was swift with many prominent individuals slamming Jim Ratcliffe for his comments which were deemed insensitive.
British Prime Minister shared his displeasure over Ratcliffe’s comments by calling for the Man United owner to apologise by stating on his official X page, “Offensive and wrong. Britain is a proud, tolerant and diverse country. Jim Ratcliffe should apologise.”

Sir Ratcliffe has since issued an apology via a statement according to Sky Sports by stating, “I am sorry that my choice of language has offended some people in the UK and Europe and caused concern but it is important to raise the issue of controlled and well-managed immigration that supports economic growth.”

“My intention was to stress that governments must manage migration alongside investment in skills, industry and jobs so that long-term prosperity is shared by everyone. It is critical that we maintain an open debate on the challenges facing the UK.”

On the pitch, Man United look to be over its poor run after appointing Michael Carrick as interim head coach; the Red Devils have four wins and a draw in their last five games.
