Bibiani Gold Stars assistant communications manager and administrative manager Joseph Oti Manu has backed the call for Gold Stars forward Samuel Attah Kumi to be included in the Black Stars.
Ghana has qualified to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has been drawn in Group L with Panama, England and Croatia.
In the lead up to the tournament, competition for selection to the playing unit is heating up with Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams saying he wouldn’t be surprised if a former Black Stars captain was included in the team for this year’s World Cup. On the Ghana Premier League front, Attah Kumi has scored 11 goals in 23 games to lead the defending champions to second place in the standings and one point behind league leaders Medeama SC.
The 26 year old former Karela United player has excelled in the campaign and for Oti Manu, Attah Kumi deserves to be included in the Black Stars squad to play friendly games against Austria and Germany with an eye for his inclusion in the June tournament.
“I believe Sammy (Samuel Attah Kumi) is a very good player. 11 goals in 23 matches he’s played for Bibiani Gold Stars this season. I think it is the right call (for him to be included in the Black Stars)…his form has been impressive for this season because whether home or away, he scores very well.”
“I think the GFA (Ghana Football Association) should consider very well to make him part of the (Black Stars) team that will travel to Germany and Austria to play these friendly games to really assess him very well prior to the World Cup” Oti Manu said.
