Chelsea FC head coach Liam Rosenoir has described his team’s loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League as a painful one.
He made this description after Chelsea lost 5-2 to the defending Champions League winners in Paris in the first leg of the round of 16 stage.
The game was tied at 2-2 heading into the final 17 minutes but a Kvicha Kvaratskhelia brace and a goal from Vitinha got PSG the important three goal advantage ahead of the second leg clash.
Speaking on the game at a presser on his return to France having served as Strasbourg head coach, Rosenoir was sure the scoreline didn’t reflect how the game was played out.
“A very disappointing result in an evening where for so much of the game I was really happy. The last 15-20 minutes were crazy. We need to be better with setbacks and we need to stay calm and we didn’t.

“It’s a painful scoreline because for 75 minutes we were way in the tie and the game itself. In that moment at 2-2 we were in the ascendancy an inch away from going 3-2…but in the top level, the Champions League level, it is fine margins.”

“The fifth goal was the most painful one after a flashpoint” Rosenoir said.
