Ghana Athletics has received a timely boost ahead of the 24th African Athletics Championships, following the unveiling of a new set of kits and a support package by Peeva Beverages for Team Ghana.
The official presentation ceremony took place at the entrance of the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, where athletes were presented with training kits and tracksuits for both male and female competitors.
The gesture comes at a crucial moment as Ghana intensifies preparations to host Africa’s biggest athletics competition from May 12 to 17 in Accra.

President of Ghana Athletics, Bawa Fuseni, described the support as one of the most remarkable interventions since he assumed office, noting that it would serve as a major source of motivation for the athletes ahead of the championships.
“I have never seeen this in my career as the president of Ghana athletics or as a professional athlete for us to have a unique indigenous who has come up boldly to sponsor Ghana athletics.”hopefully it backs the team to do very well in the tournament” he said.
Ghanaian sprinter Edwin Gadayi also welcomed the initiative, stating that the new kits and support package would significantly boost the morale and confidence of the athletes as they prepare to compete on home soil.

“We can’t go anywhere or do anything as a sports man or athlete without water. This support is very huge we are very glad to revive this. We are confident that we will make a lasting impact in the championship.”he said.
Team captain Joseph Paul Amoah expressed confidence in Ghana’s level of preparation, assuring Ghanaians that the team is ready to deliver strong performances and make the nation proud during the championships.

“It’s always nice to, you know, compete in front of the home track and the home crowd. We are very prepared, we’ve trained hard and we want to come out here and make sure we put smiles on Ghanaian faces again.” He said.
“That’s what we love to do, so we just continue doing it. There’s pressure, but we can only use it to like, you know, motivate ourselves. If you let pressure break you, then you’re in trouble.”
“So we go out there and try to use the pressure and everything, and try to come out with some medals. We know when we execute races, we’re going to get top three in almost every event. We want to go out there, execute every race, and make sure we come out with some medals.” He added.
The African Athletics Championships will be staged in Ghana for the first time, with some of the continent’s top athletes expected to converge in Accra for the six-day competition at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
