QNET and Manchester City have expanded their long-standing global partnership into Ghana with the successful hosting of the “ManCity-QNET Football Clinic 2026” in Accra.
The five-day grassroots football development programme ran from May 20 to May 24, 2026, at AIS Football Park and focused on empowering young footballers through elite coaching, mentorship and personal development.
The initiative brought official Manchester City academy training methods directly to Ghana, giving 25 selected boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 11 the opportunity to experience professional football drills, tactical sessions and physical conditioning.
Beyond football, the programme also focused heavily on leadership, teamwork, discipline and confidence-building as part of a broader community empowerment project.
Speaking during the press conference to conclude the event, Deputy Regional General Manager for QNET Sub-Saharan Africa, Cherif Bassirou Abdoulaye Sarr, explained that the initiative was designed to give back to local communities and inspire young people.

“We want to give back to the local communities and more particularly to the youth, because we believe that we have amazing talents here in Ghana and we need to empower these young people and make them believe that they can achieve their dreams,” he said.
Sarr also praised the enthusiasm shown by the children throughout the clinic and highlighted the involvement of Ghanaian football legends alongside Manchester City coaches.
“It’s amazing when you look at the kids, the smile on their faces, all the advice they got from the Man City football coaches, but also from Ghanaian football legends who were part of this event,” he added.
According to organisers, the programme is not a player scouting exercise but rather a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative aimed at making football more accessible regardless of economic background.

QNET and Manchester City, who have been global partners since 2014, are now hoping to make the football clinic a regular event in Ghana and across Sub-Saharan Africa.
“We are going to make sure that we have this event more regularly in Ghana. With Man City, what we want to do is have more football clinics and more events like this in Ghana, but also in other countries because QNET is present throughout Sub-Saharan Africa,” Sarr stated.
The event concluded with a viewing party for Manchester City’s final Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa FC, as organisers described the initiative as the beginning of bigger projects aimed at developing grassroots football talent across the region.
