Veteran football trainer Abdul Karim Zito has had his interim head coach tag of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club officially removed as he has been confirmed as the permanent head coach of the Kumasi based club.
The change in status for the former Kotoko player was confirmed late on Sunday, July 20 via an official statement from the Porcupine Warriors. Karim Zito’s deal is a two year contract.
This development clears doubts over the role of Karim Zito after he took over from Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum just two months to the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season.
“We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey as our head coach for the next two years” the statement from Kotoko read.

In Zito’s brief spell as Kotoko’s interim head coach, the Porcupine Warriors won the MTN FA Cup and President’s Cup. By winning the FA Cup, Kotoko will represent Ghana in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.

Prior to his Kotoko appointment, Karim Zito led Dreams FC to the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup and an MTN FA Cup title win.

The club is preparing to travel to South Africa to compete in the Toyota Cup against Kaizer Chiefs.
