Chelsea interim head coach Calum McFarlane has described midfielder Cole Palmer as one of the best players in the world despite the England international enduring an injury hit 2025-2026 season.
McFarlane made this comment in a pre-game presser ahead of Chelsea’s English Premier League tie against Nottingham Forest on Monday, May 4 at Stamford Bridge.
The upcoming game is Chelsea’s second under McFarlane who replaced Liam Rosenior as head coach. In his debut game, Chelsea beat Leeds United 1-0 to qualify to the FA Cup final.
Ahead of the clash against Nottingham, McFarlane talked extensively about Cole Palmer and his ability to impact games.
“It’s been a difficult period for Cole. He’s had the first injury that he’s pretty much ever had in his career and he’s had to learn how to deal with that. He shows us his talent every single day… and he’s still a top player, one of the best in the world for me.”

“So I have no concerns over Cole being ready to impact games from now to the end of the season and, hopefully, in the World Cup in big moments for England” McFalane said.
