#Donkomi: Man Utd reject Real Madrid’s offer of £27m plus James Rodriguez for Pogba

Manchester United are clearly not willing to let midfielder Paul Pogba leave the club for cheap, if at all, after they rejected an offer of £27.6 million and James Rodriguez, from Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are keen to sign the Frenchman who is growing increasingly frustrated at the Manchester club.

The player has previously spoken of his desire to leave Old Trafford, saying that “it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.”

Real Madrid looked set to sign Pogba earlier in the season but the rumours have died down a bit after a high-spending summer.

Pogba has played 142 matches for Manchester United over the course of two spells, scoring 31 times and assisting 29 more.

The player has two years left on his current contract,  although Man Utd have the option to activate an automatic 12-month extension.

Real Madrid have spent over 300 million Euros on the signings of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy, Rodrygo and Éder Militão.

However, the club’s patchy form in preseason has put the need for more reinforcements in focus.

Sky Sports report that after their massive spending spree, Real might not have the financial muscle to pay cash for Pogba, whom Man Utd signed for a then world record fee of £89 million.

James Rodriguez who has failed to live up to the lofty heights predicted for him following his performances in the 2014 World Cup which got him a £75 million move to the Spanish capital, is being set up as the makeweight for the deal.

Man Utd have been very busy themselves in the transfer market with the signings of Aaron wan Bissaka, Daniel James and Harry Maguire.

They have also had some potential deals fall through including a swap deal with Juventus involving Paolo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku.

A deal for Mario Madzukic is also expected to not be completed before the end of the transfer window.
