Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club assistant head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has described the team’s winless run in the GHALCA Top 4 as a wakeup call.

He said this in a post-game interview after Kotoko lost 2-0 to archrivals Accra Hearts of Oak in this year’s GHALCA Top 4 finale.

The competition was played out at the University of Ghana Stadium and had Bibiani Gold Stars win the title; Gold Stars won the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League title.

Kotoko will commence its 2025-2026 CAF Confederation Cup campaign in September and failed to win a game in three outings in the pre-season tournament and Yaw Owusu called on his team to wake up.

“It’s exactly what we are doing to get the boys ready for the African Cup and the league as well.”

“Look it’s a wakeup call for us…this is a wakeup call for us to fight back and make sure we get back on track to make sure we get back on the winning streak again.”
